1. Commitment
Ice Journey is committed to providing a platform that supports safe participation in skating. The welfare of children and adults at risk is paramount. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
2. Scope and roles
This policy applies to users, coaches, parents, guardians, administrators, contractors and anyone using Ice Journey. Coaches and organisations remain responsible for their own safeguarding arrangements, safer recruitment, DBS or equivalent checks where required, training, supervision and reporting duties.
3. Expected conduct
Communication with children must be necessary, appropriate, transparent and capable of being seen by an authorised parent, guardian or organisation where appropriate.
Adults must maintain professional boundaries, avoid private or secretive contact, never request inappropriate images or information, and never use the platform to groom, exploit, bully or intimidate.
4. Reporting a concern
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For a non-emergency safeguarding concern, contact the relevant club or organisation safeguarding lead and email support@icejourney.co.uk. Concerns about a child can also be reported to the appropriate local authority or police.
5. How we respond
We will take reports seriously, limit access where necessary, preserve relevant records, share information on a need-to-know and lawful basis, and refer matters to appropriate safeguarding or law-enforcement bodies where required. We will not investigate criminal allegations ourselves.
6. Confidentiality and records
Safeguarding information is sensitive. It will be recorded factually, stored securely, accessed only where necessary and retained in line with legal, safeguarding and insurance needs.
7. Review
This policy should be reviewed regularly and after any serious incident, material platform change or relevant legal or safeguarding update.
Legal review: These policies are intended as a practical UK-focused starting point and should be reviewed against the final business identity, payment model, data flows and safeguarding arrangements before launch.
